Who we are:
A non for Profit Corporation established in May of 2009 by concerned citizens of the communities of Little Village, Pilsen, Humboldt park, Logan Square, Brighton park, Back of the Yards, South Chicago, Cicero, Summit, Burbank, Bridgeview and Gage Park for the promotion and administration of various programs for recidivism reduction and youth violence prevention and intervention.
Mission Statement:
The mission of the Youth Cultivation Ccoalition is to improve the health and well-being of urban youth and help them transition to successful adulthood. The long term goal of the coalition is to build a foundation for community improvement by training and positioning young people as leaders, to address critical issues facing their urban peers, and to help them develop and implement creative, programmatic solutions leading to social change. The core of the coalition youth-driven programming is a specialized development and training process that builds the capacity of youth by actively engaging their participation in: career development and community living workshops.
·
All program initiatives grew from focus groups comprised of youth cultivation coalition volunteers and youth members. Program initiatives, which include on-going programs and short-term projects, were designed, initiated and implemented by youth who were committed to fulfilling the coalition’s mission. From that initial step, the youth cultivation coalition has launched a variety of innovative and non-traditional approaches towards youth development and advocacy.
What we do:
Recruitment of volunteers and community awareness is the key to
success by communicating and networking county wide with elected officials and community organizations together we work with the incarcerated youth and youth at risk to create a program that addresses the needs of the particular area and provide equipment, educational programs, volunteers, recreational space and consultation to organizations on how to manage and fund programs.
Goal:
To organize a network of community based non for profit organizations throughout Cook County Illinois that will work together as an advocate for productive programs that will help in reducing the rate of recidivism and lower the rate of violence in urban communities throughout Cook County.
